Happy Insta Girls Blog Hop - Halloween

I started to use Instagram a couple of months ago and there are so many nice and wonderful people out there which are so talented and encourage your work that you put out there. Now I have been asked to take part in the Happy Insta Girls Blog Hop - and YES OF COURSE, I'D LOVE TO! It's great to have found that many people to share my love for crafting with.

Birka chose the topic "Autumn or Halloween" for this second hop and did all the organization! Kudos! Which means that we all created a card and sent it to eachother. You will find the order of the blog hop at the bottom of the post.

I received this lovely Halloween card from Tanja.  Look at this adorable monster. I personally don't own any monster stamp sets because I am somehow not that fond of them. But I have to say, the one Tanja send me is just too cute with his big grin. I love the colors that she used and I have to get to know what embossing powder she used! The color is just perfect for Halloween!
I also decided to make a Halloween card for Julia using the only Halloween stamp set I own. I also used my Scan'N'Cut to cut  a haunted house out of black and orange card stock. I created a background with Distress inks and I really like the combination of the purple sky and the orange "lights" of the house. And I hope Julia liked the card I sent her as well. To find out what card Julia created just go to the end of the post, hop along, and find out!

Happy Halloween!

Après Ski Christmas Wishes

Today I want to show you another Christmas card that I made with the cute reindeer from the Snow Dance Kit by Create A Smile. I thought he looked like he was skiing that why I added skiing sticks and skis to him. I colored thim with Spectrum Noir markers (fur: TN7, TN8, EB5, antlers: GB8, GB10, ears: FS2, FS3, pullover: CR10, CR11, DR2, hooves: IG6, IG8).

I also stamped a few of the little trees from a Mama Elephant set since I thought they would be perfect for a winter scene. I colored them with JG1 and JG5 and added Liquid Appliqué on some.
Out of white card stock I cut a snowy hill and adhered it with fun foam to a patterned paper background. The patterned paper is also from the Snow Dance Kit but will be made available separately. Using liquid glue, I also adhered the trees either to the patterned paper or to the hill to create some nice dimension.

Out of silver card stock I cut out two "skiis" and adhered them to the reindeer. For even more dimension, I used foam squares and adhered him in the middle of the hill.
I also wanted to include a sentiment because I thought the sky had to much free space (if that makes sense). On a white scrap of card stock I stamped the sentiment "liebe Weihnachtsgrüße" (best Christmas wishes) with Classic Cherry ink and adhered the strip along the whole panel.

Watercolor Birthday

Hi! Today I am showing you a  quick and simple birthday card using Gansai Tambi watercolors and a sentiment by My Favorite Things. This is also the first time I used the Canson Mixed Media paper and I have to say that I am quite impressed with it.

First I stamped the sentiment on the paper using VersaMark and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I adhered my panel to a flat surface to prevent it from warping too much but where I'd still be able to move it and the watercolor around.

Using a brush, I wet the paper around the sentiment, not the whole paper. I then applied my Gansai Tambi watercolors (40, 51, 55) and tried to blend the colors together. I used my heat gun to dry the color and also a paper towel to wipe away some of the excess color. Then I applied a second coat.

After everything was dry, I took my brush, tipped it in the color and spritzed it on the panel to create some splashes of color. I let it dry one more time and adhered the panel to a slightly larger dark green card stock piece.

Baby, it's cold outside

There is a new challenge up on the Simply Create Too Challenge Blog with the topic "Baby, it's cold outside". Go check it out, look at all the great projects by the Design Team members and come play along! I made a card with this adorable polar bear by Some Odd Girl and used the perfectly matching sentiment from a Lawn Fawn set.

First, I stamped the polar bear with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White card stock as well as the hat, the scarf, and the pole. Then, I colored them with Spectrum Noir markers (I actually had to google how to color that pole...) (polar bear: Liquid Appliqué, hat/scarf: GT2, GT3, pole: ). I also used some Glossy Accents on the polar bear's nose and on the top part of the pole to make it a bit more "metal like" (if you know what I mean :) ).

For the background I used a piece of watercolor card stock and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. I think it is a beautfiul soft blue color that is perfect for sky backgrounds. I made sure not to cover the whole piece but to get lighter to the top. Using some white scrap card stock, I cut a few snow hills adhered it to the watercolor piece. On the hill in the front I stamped the sentiment "baby, it's cold outside" with Classic Cherry die ink. After glueing the hat and scarf to the polar bear I placed him and the pole on/behind the snow hills.

To give the card a bit more contrast I wanted to use a larger red background panel. I used foam tape to give the front panel more dimension and also included red and white bakers twine which perfectly matches the red and white pole. I wrapped it around the front panel a couple of times and bound it to a little bow. I adhered the bow in place with a tiny glue dot. Finally, I adhered the front panel on top of the background panel.

Christmas garland (Create A Smile)

Well, I am a bit slow in the last time with posting cards but I am also slow in making them. I guess sometimes there just are those days where you run out of crafty juice. But yesterday the Snow Dance Kit and a cute German sentiment set by Create A Smile arrived and I made this card below.

It's also the first card I made with kraft cardstock and I really like the look of it! First, I stamped the little meerkats from the Friends and Couples stamp set also by Create A Smile on Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I also used the little Santa hat from the Holiday Party Animal set by Lawn Fawn which is the perfect size for the meerkats. I colored the images with Spectrum Noir markers (hat: CR 10, DR2 + Liquid Appliqué, meerkat: EB2, GB8, GB10). I popped up the Liquid Applique which is always fun to watch! Really love it!

Then I took the large sentiment which says "Weihnachten" (Christmas) and mounted it on my acrylic block a bit curved so it looks like a garland (which is what the meerkats are intended to hold in the set they are from) and stamped it with Yeti pigment ink on a kraft card base. I also stamped the word "frohe" (here: merry) above the large sentiment and adhered the meerkats on each side.

And I didn't really like how it looked. I wanted to include some more fun Christmas accessoires and found them in the Reindeer Games set by Mama Elephant. I stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black ink directly on the kraft cardstock so they look as if they would hang from the Christmas garland. I then colored them with Faber Castell watercolor pencils which created a really nice effect.
